With some assistance from attic, Barbara went out on her own and named her business behind 'Emily' her beloved slow sister. The Miss Emily Aboriginal Art Group was formed and Barbara is very arrogant of the business and her fellow artists who labor in the shed. Barbara proudly says our daily life is active in the shed which gives every one of us some hope in this world. The business is very much a family affair with abundant of Barbara’s six children active as artists. The group creates hand painted ingenious Aboriginal works, paintings and ceramics, along with pretty hand painted silk scarves and greeting cards. All of their work is individually hand painted bringing out the spontaneous colors of their birthplace within their work. Every day they strive to divulge their passion in these creations. Her father was a coal burner who moved around for work, between Swan Hill, Balranald and Robin vale. Barbara has been an artist from her childhood, preferring to sketch and draw rather than attend her school lessons. Although he cites his major artistic influences as Brett Whiteley, Fred Williams, Paul Klee and Pict Mondrian, a strong tinge of Arthur Boyd’s emotionally troubled and weather wrought landscapes is obvious in finest of subject and incorporation of com positional perspective. They use the 300 year old Lost Wax Process using the customary foundry casting technique. Every cast is unique with each portion first produced in wax which is then coated in a ceramic slurry to construct a shell of 5mm thickness.
