Improving the lives of women by ending inequality. Our community services work to create opportunities for women facing disadvantage and are delivered through three program priority areas ?? housing, mentoring and community strengthening. Ywca victoria is an organisation improving the lives of women by ending inequality. Exceptional programs are developed around a commitment to addressing shelter, access, full and active participation, opportunity and choice, security and empowerment for women and are delivered to advance equity, safety, no discrimination and empowerment for victorian women.

We also act as an support and campaigner for women’s rights across the state and are proud to be a potent voice for equality and equal opportunity. YWCA Victoria is a membership organization and relies on the support and enthusiasm of a diverse and passionate group of supporters. We will deliver special services focused on creating opportunities for women facing disadvantage and be a mighty voice for women’s equality. EQUITY FAIRNESS: We will be an real voice on issues facing all women, young women and girls to promote gender equality. DIVERSITY: Accepting that no two women are the same and that we will produce opportunities for women, young women and girls to realism their potential. We will have a voice that is dauntless in its pursuit for gender equality and supported by programs and services that promote and save the social, economic, cultural, civil and political rights of women, young women and girls. We will provide housing and services that strengthens women’s connection within their communities. We will seek trans formative collaborations that resist and grow all partners. The Board of Directors are responsible for the governance of YWCA Victoria and YWCA Housing and represent the interests of all stakeholders, including members. YWCA Victoria is also elated to foster young women to take on governance positions within the organization with at minimum 30 of Directors under the age of 30. The Club was founded in 1910 to produce rowing opportunities for women and while the Club now conducts programs for both sexes, membership is quiet begin only to women. This is where the first Y Headquarters was built. Changing ideas about women’s health in the 1920s led to greatly increased involvement in sports. Outdoor holiday camps also became very popular in this period, and persisted in popularity through to the 1970s. Although chronically brief of funds, the YWCA increased the scope of its relief efforts during the Huge Depression. With no other organization responsible for meeting the needs of servicewomen joining the war effort, the YWCA began a formal alliance with the Australian Comforts Fund to provide housing, meals, and other services to women enlisted in the Australian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The YWCA also joined the effort to organize work on the home front. Meeting migrants on arrival, providing safe changing housing and helping make connections had been a YWCA activity since its inception, but in 1962 the YWCA in Melbourne was meeting 500 fresh Greek emigrants a month. In the premature 1970s there were well over 30 groups in Victoria. Richmond House is still going mighty today and supports women by providing affordable housing and access to health and promote services. The profits from the sale are reinvested and property development opportunities become a focus. A key focus of the business is to enlarge its housing development. Thanks to our partners, supporters and stakeholders for busy with us to improve the lives of Victorian women. YWCA Housing's key focus is the development and acquisition of affordable housing solutions for women in Victoria, while continuing to bear assistance and promote to the 240 women we currently house each night.

At a public meeting, 'for ladies only' 200 attendees voted to found Victoria’s beginning YWCA with the goal of the 'spiritual, intellectual, and social improvement of young women'. The mission of the YWCA, as decided in that beginning meeting, included not only prayer and abstinence from demon liquor’, but also: classes for secular instruction, assistance and lodging for migrants, an employment agency and factory visitation. The Club was founded in 1910 to yield rowing opportunities for women and while the Club now conducts programs for both sexes, membership is still originate only to women. The 'Y' has been at the forefront in popularizing rowing for women. This is where the beginning Y Headquarters was built.
